I'm only sorry that I never got the chance to say goodbye to you all...the incredibly supportive, engaged, opinionated, clever and wonderfully diverse audience of Today. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the fun years we shared, and for welcoming me into your homes each morning. It has been an absolute privilege. Lisa.xxx PS. This pic is from Karl's and my very first publicity shoot way back in May 2007. The prying lenses of complete strangers have captured and published images taken through my kitchen window. They've followed my children. I have been chased down streets. Into cul-de-sacs.”

Lisa explained that she felt overwhelmed by the kindness that had been displayed by some, but added the experience had left her a little “out of whack”. The experienced journalist went on to share a story about her friend Rebecka Delforce who she worked with at CLEO magazine which she said, “put some true perspective into things”.

“She came to me as a feisty, opinionated and fabulously determined 19-year-old – tall, athletic, the kind of girl you just knew probably captained every school sports team she turned her skills to. Popular. Funny. With a killer smile. And a kindness in her heart that warmed us all,” Lisa explained.

Sometimes all you need in life is perspective. I've learnt that in spades this last week.
My column for @HuffPostAU https://t.co/bFZwpds4T9
— Lisa Wilkinson (@Lisa_Wilkinson) October 25, 2017

Lisa wrote about how Beck had moved to Africa to do charity work, falling in love with her primary school sweetheart Darren. The couple had plans to marry, before Darren was tragically shot while trying to protect his partner. Nine years on after struggling with PTSD from the incident, Beck was diagnosed with cancer, passing five weeks later.

Lisa has said her goodbyes to Beck, who “lived a life of real meaning.”

In her tribute to her, Lisa finished, “And even now, in your passing, your gift of warming the hearts of others and providing perspective on what truly matters, lives on

“We can't thank you enough.”

What are your thoughts? Are you happy for Lisa? Do you think Channel Nine made the right decision in letting her jump ship to Network 10?

The secret trick to sleeping well on long-haul flights

In a Q&A on Quora, Arianna Huffington, co-founder of the Huffington Post, shared her tips to getting a decent rest while on a plane.

Arianna’s schedule demands a lot of travelling and she pins her successful sleep schedule to routine and organisation.

“Before you even set foot on the plane, you can create a schedule that better suits your sleep needs,” she said.

“My advice, based on what has worked for me through my many travels across multiple time zones, comes down to arranging my schedule so that I have plenty of time for sleep — even if it means building in an extra day for travel.

“I’ve talked to many executives who fly around the world and go into meetings exhausted, unable to stay awake; they often end up offending people who may have worked for weeks getting presentations ready for that meeting.”

Arianna said one trick to sleeping on a flight is mirroring your bedtime routine at home, so your body knows it’s time to sleep.

“I’m actually a little bit obsessed with trying to do everything I can to make my flights more sleep-friendly. That’s because I travel so much, and I’ve learned over time that a little preparation goes a long way,” she said.

“I have my sleeping gear permanently packed in my carry-on: an eye mask, noise-cancelling headphones, earplugs, herbal teas (including lavender and licorice), and my favourite neck pillow.”

“I always like to dress comfortably, even if it is a short flight, and I wear only flat shoes when I travel.”
